If you have tough skin, want good money, great benefits, can ignore all the politics, then the Flour Mill is for you. Hardest part of the job working 7 days for 21 days straight. Pros Pay, Health Insurance; k, pension. Cons 7 days hours a day. Would you rate your company five stars? Rate your employer to help people make better career decisions. This is a cut throat environment where you have to aggressively self promote and have a senior sponsor to get ahead.
They also do significant layoffs every 1 to 2 years. Good pay and benefits. Pros Training and pay. Cons Layoffs. Work culture is great. I enjoy working with my peers and the flexible work hours.
Every day I'm presented with a new challenge that excites me. No major complaints. Pros Get paid. I believe you get paid well because most of your days are 12 hours which is hard no matter what you do. One 6 hour day and 3 12 hour days. And the overtime is mandatory but you may get called off if not required or needed. If you have no outside responsibilities and an open schedule then this place is good for you. The pay and benefits are great, but it is hard to plan anything on my days off because of a lot mandatory overtime.
Pros Pay and benefits. Cons Long hours and lots of mandatory overtime. Yes There are 1 helpful reviews 1 No. Maintenance is ran by production teams and leadership decisions are often questionable. Hiring is all over the place as screening is not done well. Compensation and benefits are not bad.
Usually very understaffed and forced OT is dragging down the workforce. Pros One of the best places in the area. Cons Forced OT, Under staffed. Jobs at General Mills. Production Operator. Manufacturing Technician. Packaging Machine Operators.
Production Operator Full Time. I worked as a Maintenance Tech at GenMills for about 18 months. The work was not hard and i had great coworkers. The main reason i had to quit was the domination of my personal life through the job. Working 7 days a week every week and additional 12 hour shifts forces you to say goodbye to friends and family because you will not have time for them anymore.
Management promised to fix the situation, but never came through. Pros Wages and Benefits. Cons Best to bring an RV and live on the property there. The least amount of work I've ever done for the most money I've ever made. There isn't a hard job in the place. You'll just be there all of the time. Pros Pay. Cons Time off. I no longer work here, and for good reason. The hours were long but I was paid well. The Union is almost pointless but we did have guaranteed time off.
The disconnect between management and wage employees is way too much. They make these rules and you have to follow them or risk your job. Pros Compensation, benefits. Cons Management. The benefits are great, the jobs aren't hard labor.
Somewhere between 48 to 52 hours a week starting out. No home life with this company. If you get hire in as salary you will get most weekends, if not you will work weekends for at least 10 to 15 years. Pros Benefits. Cons No home life. A lot of employees doing nothing all night. If you're looking to make a lot of money and work overtime, this is the job for you.
If you require any free time or have a family, don't even apply. You will work days a week, hours a day because they can't keep people because no one wants to work all the time. Management is so-so, but they act sympathetic, but the fact is they leave at 3pm every day and almost never work weekends, so they can't sympathize with you at all. The pay is the only thing that keeps people there. Pros Good pay, okay benefits. Cons No home life, long hours, constant schedule change, no days off.
Too many hours with a lot of forcing. Pay is ok but you have no time to spend with family or friends. Co-workers and nice. The operators are cliquey and gossip just about anything. Be prepare to only look after yourself, make the money and go home. If you care about money, this is it. Not a "Class C" position, temp job, or a management job. All hours worked on Sunday are paid at a 2x rate, and all hours worked on Saturday are paid at a 1.
Benefits are excellent. Lots of people complain about the hours. Management is promising to solve this problem with a new work system, but I don't know if they'll be successful.
Most of the time, you'll just have to work your own 8-hour shift. There are opportunities to turn those into hour shifts, especially on the weekends. Occasionally, people are required to work those extra 4 hours. It's now a Union plant, and if you don't have any attendance issues, it's hard to get fired or laid off.
